Interview with the Managing Partner of N2S: Are the Electric Cars Speeding Up in Europe??

EDiBMA: Thank you Mr. von Eberhardt, Managing Partner of N2S, for accepting our invitation.  Could you please share with us very shortly your background?

My work experience ranges from Blue Chip companies to SME mostly in an international and multicultural work environment.

Previously active in Management Consultancy my business focus was to support Procurement executives to increase their financial and business impact in their organizations. My current activity covers N2S’ organizational transformation – firstly from a strongly engineering driven start up to a service driven company. Secondly I am responsible of our electric mobility service line.

EDiBMA: What does your company N2S do?  How big company are you?

New Network Solutions is a technology independent integrator, active in the fields of Intelligent Energy Management services, New Broadband Telecommunication Technology and Electric Mobility solutions. Our “products” are a web application, software and services.

Our Headquarter is based in Spain, our core market and we are about 60 people today. We are active in Latin America and Italy in Europe. Soon we look forward to open activities in BeNeLux region and Germany.

EDiBMA: What are the challenges & opportunities you see coming in the electric vehicles business in the coming years?

The first challenge of the electric vehicle is its name. Actually it is more about electric mobility in which the vehicle is a part. Today, companies active in this rather young sector face 3 challenges at a time:

  1. Increase user acceptance and provide a good user experience
  2. Establish pragmatic and attractive business models and
  3. Ensure social impact, for their brands as well as society

As all of these elements need to be addressed simultaneously, the electric vehicle roll-out and distribution will benefit from strong partnerships between car manufacturers, infrastructure providers, intelligence on car end user and a lot of communication and additional services.

As Chinese companies are coming strong into Europe, we will probably see a strong impulse on demand and offer in Europe very soon.

EDiBMA: How do you see the current business environment evolving in the next few years - especially in Spain where you are strongly present?

It is an attractive market full of opportunities; on the one hand “delivery” of services needs to satisfy top industrial standards. On the other hand the market has not yet agreed on product specifications, services and requirements. As this market will evolve and grow quickly, there is a lot to do. These developments have important impact on Spain. Renewable Energy and Electric Mobility will provide their share to support innovation to get the country back on track.

EDiBMA: What are your personal challenges as a Fast Track Company Leader?  What do you do differently in the leadership compared to most of your peers?

My first challenge has been to “connect the dots” and “align the troops” in order to prepare the company for transformation. This was done in quite a complex business environment last year that has evolved very positively since. The second is to install a stronger ownership, higher autonomy and initiative while establishing a new start up spirit.

Main focus in this is to keep business stable and to provide any organizational and process changes “on the job” to have immediate positive impact. We took quite some time to prepare all of this in order to ensure motivation and focus of the team.

EDiBMA: Why did you choose to become a member at EDiBMA and would you recommend a particular profile of CXO's or Directors to join us?

EDiBMA offers a platform gathering and connecting highly specialized experts from many different fields. Quality friends, external perspective and experience is critical and enriching for a start up like ours. On the other hand we are constantly faced with the latest evolutions in Energy, Telecom, Internet and Electric Mobility which could be of interest for the EDiBMA network. I am convinced a very constructive and instructive exchange is possible without pressure on any side.

In any case I am very thankful for the opportunity to present my company to the Network and I am very much looking forward to learn more about its members.

EDiBMA: Thank you for your participation - we hope to see you onboard in our next member events.
